MHR Grade 2 Room 12 Mrs. Mack’s Memos

Happy Tuesday!  We were all very sad that the pen pal picnic had to be postponed.  The sun did come out but the wet grass and mud would have made for a rather unpleasant afternoon.  Hopefully things will dry out by Thursday and we will at long last be able to meet our pen pals.  Hot lunches have been cancelled for that day so please remember to pack a bagged lunch and something to drink even if it does look threatening.

We are also very excited about our video debut tomorrow afternoon at 1:45.  We look forward to seeing as many moms as can make it at that time.  It is sure to be a smashing hit!!!!

The only homework for tonight is to work on our cursive writing sheets.  We learned the letters s and f this morning.  I went through most of their writing folders and quite a few are several letter sheets behind.  Tonight is a great time to catch up.

Happy hump day!  There are two very important notes going home this afternoon.  One is the permission slip for our pen pal picnic which is next Tuesday, May 26th and the other is the invitation for moms to attend the “showing” of our 2nd grade video on Wednesday, May 27th.  We ask that the permission slip be returned tomorrow as there is no school on Friday or Monday.  For our trip to the park the children are allowed to wear play clothes and they are to bring a bagged lunch and a blanket or beach towel to share with their pen pal.  We will be leaving around 11:15 and returning around 2:15.  All are welcome to walk with us or meet us at the park.  It is really a fun day.  In the event of rain we will reschedule for Thursday.

The homework for tonight is:
Spelling: Study for the test and finish the unit pages 147-153.
Lang. Arts:  Finish decorating the poems.
Reading:  Read The Dinosaur orally and put it on the chart.
Math:  Study subtraction facts.

This week has flown by so quickly and we have been very busy.  This morning we reviewed for the Religion test which is tomorrow.  Most of the children seem to know the material.  It was obvious that they had studied last night.  I told them the 2 questions that will need written answers and they highlighted that material in their book. They also wrote the answers on a study guide sheet.  Learn those answers and the test will be very easy!  We also made Communion cards for our Queen of Martyrs pen pals.  In Math we are finishing up place value and about to start regrouping with three digits.  This should not be too much of a challenge as most of the children had a good grasp of regrouping with two digits. 

The homework for tonight is:
     Religion:  Study for the test on pages 248-256.  Be sure to know 4 ways
                     that the Church loves and serves God and 4 ways that one
                     other group of people loves and serves God and others. 
     Spelling:  Study for the test and finish the unit pages 173-178.
     Math:  Study subtraction facts.
